FRIDAY ALL Games Due!

Do Now: Gather up your game boards, rules, and pieces and move to the tables. If you worked on a video game (Scratch or Jeopardy style), please open it on your computer.

Classwork: Rotate around to play at least 4 games for 10 minutes each.

Grade each game for

  • How fun is it? (5-7-10 points)
  • How original is it? (5-7-10 Points)
  • Does it make sense? (5-7-10 points)
  • Are the pieces well designed (color/form/function)? (5-7-10 points)
  • Is the board well designed (color/form/function)? (5-7-10 points)
  • Additional comments/feedback (optional for EC)
Exit ticket: Hand in game assessment forms


HW: Complete your essay for Mr. Lofaro (due tomorrow) or project for Ms Gold (due Monday)

Ms Gold's Final Project

Ms. Gold/Final Project/American Studies/Photo Journalism Muckraker Project
Due: June 4-1-2 page written analysis & photograph post
June 8---Be prepared to present your power-point in class


Objective: Students will be able to explain how terrible the living and working conditions of the Progressive Era and compare it to modern day social issues in Philadelphia.

Directions:

Comparative Critical Thinking & Writing: Write a 1-2 Page analysis and create a power point presentation. How are these issues/social ills/social reforms alike? How are they different?

Presentation: Be prepared to present your 2 photographs in a 3-slide power point+ (2 photos and comparative analysis statement as a concluding slide).

Progressive Era: Find 1 photograph from the Jacob Riis or Lewis Hines collection (see links below). Explain the issue in writing describing the causes of the social issue and who tried to socially reform the issue

Modern Day: Take your chosen issue and find 1 modern day photograph. Explain the issue in writing describing the causes of the social issue and who tried to socially reform the issue.

Post: the writing to Google Docs along with your 2 photographs.

Background of Progressive Era Photo Journalism:
Photographs were increasingly used as a method of documentation. The photographer's audience became the mass readership of newspapers, magazines, and books. Line drawings made from photographs, and later, halftone photography, enabled people to see as well as read about the world around them.
